Welcome to the twenty-eighth Week in eCommerce Data, where Friday begins with a dose of ecommerce data. In this week’s roundup, we focus on the advancement of mobile ecommerce, Salesforce’s record purchase of Slack. Plus other ecom news elsewhere!

Weekly insight

We are in the middle of the holiday season and after looking at the numbers for the Thanksgiving week, we could see that the pandemic definitely affected people’s ability and desire to shop this season. We can also see, however, that businesses were not affected uniformly, so our best advice here is to keep looking at opportunities to work in a new way for at least another year until the vaccine arrives.

Another important topic this week was the acquisition of Slack by Salesforce, this completes Salesforce’s quest for a 360 view of the customer by allowing them to integrate Slack with their products, shortening the waiting time for people to use the products – definitely a big win for Salesforce.

of all retail ecommerce is set to come from mobile in 2021.

the record price tag that Salesforce is paying for the communications platform Slack.

were offering curbside pickup by August 2020, compared to pre-pandemic levels of just 6.9% of retailers.

that consumers are spending during the holiday shopping season compared to last year.

increase in ecommerce sales of GameStop, despite total sales falling 30.2% year over year, with limited availability of new gaming hardware weighing down the retailer.

45%

the increase in total sales year on year for Chewy during the third quarter. The online pet retailer registered $1.8 billion.

$11.18 billion

in annual digital sales that Kroger registered, earning it a spot in the top 10 ecommerce companies in the US.
