- The Women Powering ArganoUV

Putting the spotlight on our workforce, The Women Powering ArganoUV showcases the professional and personal pathways of women at ArganoUV. We uncover daily motivations and personal passions, first company impressions and important career milestones. Today, we meet Agustina Alvarez, Sr. Graphic Designer.
In what year did you start working at ArganoUV?
I started working at ArganoUV when it was “United Virtualities” in January 2019.
What are you daily motivations?
Every day is different, and I really enjoy that. It makes my work dynamic and challenging, and that makes me want to be better every day. I like to organize my days, my tasks, and at ArganoUV, I have the freedom and the flexibility to do it my way. What I love about design is that it is constantly changing, new trends, fashions; every day is something new, is not static, and that makes my work fun, energetic, and active.
What aspects of your role do you enjoy the most?
Words that become something tangible, a website, an app, an image, every marketing and communication piece. My work involves transformation. I enjoy working with different people from different teams – for example work with a UX expert. I also love to explore and learn new platforms.
What are the aspects of your personality that you feel contribute to your role?
I like order and organization. I like to have stuff under control so that nothing escapes from me. I am resolute and self-taught.
What are you passionate about? Are you able to incorporate that into your workday?
I am passionate about creativity and creation. I love details and analyzing stuff – for example if I’m watching a TV show, I will be really critical of details, I will search who is the director, etc… I also love taking photos and recording videos, everything that has to do with visual.
Yes, I’m able to incorporate this into my workday because, for example, now at ArganoUV, we are working on a lot of videos and I have the opportunity to create them.
How do you unplug yourself from work?
Last year I moved in with my boyfriend and I love going shopping at the grocery store. I take a 30–40-minute walk, I put on some music, and I relax. I discovered a few garden centers nearby that I love to visit, just to see the plants…and I end up returning home with 4 to 6 new plants. Also, I started to study Japanese with an app and a book. I enjoy watching TV (mostly cartoons on Disney Plus) and discover new places, such as a Korean cafe, a Japanese bazar that has a restaurant on the rooftop, a new plaza… I love to get to know new places in Buenos Aires and share these new and weird experiences with people.
How would you describe your role within the company?
Today I’m a senior designer in the marketing department. However, whenever I can I get involved in some projects and because of this I was able to learn about a lot of new things from the projects. I’m multitasking!
What was your first impresion walking into ArganoUV’s office?
I sent my resume, and I had some interviews via Zoom, with the last instance at the office. It was summer in Argentina but it was a really cold day, so I put a nice sweater on. When I got into the subway, I was really hot and had to take off the sweater… But I was really ashamed of my shirt – as a visual girl, I thought “they are not going to hire me because I don’t look tidy.” So, when I got to the building, I remembered I went to another interview in the same place and I thought “wow this is my second opportunity, I love this building and I want to work here.” So, on my first day some “buddy” showed me the office. I chose my place and started working with Mariela, helping her with a presentation, and then I started working with Dani creating the marketing area.
What do you highlight about ArganoUV, as a company?
I like the flexibility – regardless of the position that you entered for. At ArganoUV you can build your way, choosing your own adventure. I entered as a junior designer and marketing assistant and now I am what I am. I like the space that we have to talk to our managers and directors with confidence and calmness.
