The EPM Platforms Competing with the Top

Enterprise performance management (EPM) platforms are designed to collect and manage metrics anchored to financial performance and business planning processes. They can either be on-premises platforms or cloud-hosted platforms.

Their net spans a broad coverage of data, which includes budgeting, forecasting, and profitability planning solutions.

We have previously looked at the top five EPM platforms – in our humblest opinion. The EPM Platforms Competing with the Top

Well, today we are going to catch a glimpse of the next five EPM platforms that are pushing the top ones.

Epicor

Epicor is best for retail analytics. The platform boasts robust business intelligence and real-time data which is highly accessible to its users.

Its retail management system is fully integrated and comes with built-in best practices, loyalty guidance, and competitor price comparisons. It also holds strong employee scheduling features and document management tools.

Its strengths include strong supply chain management functions, a good database search feature, and is highly customizable.

Its weaknesses can be found in its ability to integrate with financial and HR applications, the somewhat complicated implementations and upgrades, and the lack of user-friendliness in its order release process.

Infor d/EPM

Infor d/EPM is best for its user-friendly modeling tool. Its full name is Infor Dynamic Enterprise Performance Management and integrates smoothly with business tools and financial planning functionalities.

Its ultimate aim is to better manage work-in-progress delivery costs and project execution.

Its strengths include the ability to unify planning profit and loss, cash flow, and balance sheet. It also boasts a powerful and user-friendly modeling tool, and unlimited versioning for forecast planning.

Its weaknesses include time-consuming implementations. Its user interface also often incorporates a lot of text. And its reporting processes could do with additional manual work in order for them to look like quality presentations.

Planview

Planview is best for enterprise project portfolio management. The system is a modern take on analytics and reporting modules that makes it more accessible to make visualizations.

Planview holds solutions for road mapping, program management, investment prioritization, and financial planning.

Its strengths lie in its customizable KPI analytics, its easy to configure data entry screens, strong investment planning capabilities, and its affordable per-user cost.

Its weaknesses lie in the fact that its timesheets are not quite user-friendly and its forecasting for teams and resource features are still a work in progress.

Axiom EPM

Axiom EPM is best for cost management. The platform is a flexible enterprise performance management solution that is used by companies such as Engie, UCL, Capita, and Splendid Hospitality.

Its capabilities stretch across budgeting, strategic planning, reporting, profitability, and cost management for complex data. It holds an evidence-based costing algorithm in addition to probability trends across business areas.

Its strengths are in its easy-to-use user security, its highly customizable reporting templates, its spreadsheet-esque database is quite intuitive, and its consulting package includes unique reports for data sets.

Its weaknesses include the difficulty in getting to a single charge. Its interface is not very engaging, unlike some of its competitors. And unfortunately, it uses paid FTE metrics for reports. The EPM Platforms Competing with the Top

Anaplan

Anaplan is best for supply and demand planning. It is designed to strengthen scenario planning to empower agile decision-making. The platform can forecast across the whole network with flexible pivoting in ever-changing marketplaces.

Its strengths come from the platform’s easy ability to link multiple planning streams to a centralized location. It can handle big data sets as well as low granularity of data. It holds a robust calculation engine and manages easy scenario analysis adjustments.

Its weaknesses lie in its limited integration with third-party platforms. It has no formula syntax helper which will make it difficult for many. Plus, there is a lack of customization when it comes to the platform’s dashboards.
