You know that we’re soon to be in the 2020s because — unlike the 2000s when people would compare the cool vs uncool by saying this or that is “wired” vs “tired” — we describe people and things as “woke” vs “broke”. Of course, today what is cool isn’t “wired” but “woke” and of course today what is uncool isn’t “tired” but “broke”. How very modern. Of course.
Let me give you a very relevant example — very relevant to all you Salesforce Commerce Cloud lovers out there:
You know what is broke? An ecommerce site where you go to a product page and it, well, has a product listed there.
You know what is woke? An ecommerce site where the product page not only offers you the product, but THE ENTIRE LOOK: that product goes perfectly with this other one, and that other one, and that other one, to create the right set.
And what ecommerce platform does this awesomely? You got it: Salesforce Commerce Cloud, using their “Sets” functionality.
Let me explain.
Traditional ecommerce platforms would just have a product page with lots of information about the products. It’s also standard today to have variables for each (what color do you want it in?). Some even let you add on “Bundles” in which it can recommend products that, if purchased together, give you a discount (which shockingly is not an included functionality in… hold your breath… Shopify. For all you guys out there considering Shopify…. Yup, details matter, and keep details like these in mind!).
But Salesforce Commerce Cloud takes it a step further. It lets you put various products together as a group, that can be viewed, organized and taken together as a group in every way. These are Product Sets.
A great use case for this is in fashion, and we’ve implemented this successfully on various fashion sites. You want this dress, this necklace, and this hat that, when worn together, give you a particularly awesome look? Yup, that is a product bundle.
To see the power of this, let us give you three examples of this that are done well.
The first example — our lawyers have said that we can mention publicly: Kendra Scott. Look at the “Shop the Look” feature:
And two other sites, also using Salesforce Commerce Cloud, that do this well — and that our lawyers have said that we can not say if we’re associated with them or not in any way; therefore, to be clear, by the mention of the below, is not an acknowledgment that there may or may not exist any agreement that prevents us from acknowledging the role we may or may not have had in the site; so for your purposes, you must assume these are just random sites we found via Googling, right, RIGHT? RIGHT? Got it? — are Brooks Brothers:
In conclusion: Product Sets are one of the new trends in ecommerce. Salesforce Commerce Cloud is leading the way in terms of functionality. And United Virtualities is leading the way in terms of implementing that functionality for the world.
