Forbes recently released its 2021 Cloud 100, which ranks the top 100 private cloud companies in the world, with the headless content management system Contentful being named on it.
Contentful is one of the leading content platforms that has an API-first approach.
This was the sixth year that Forbes has published its list after reviewing hundreds of cloud competitors. And they evaluated these companies across four factors with different weight structures: market leadership (35%), estimated valuation (30%), operating metrics (20%), and people and culture (15%).
In order to carry out the evaluation, the Cloud 100 enlisted the help of 34 public cloud company CEOs to sit on its judging panel.
“The companies of the Cloud 100 list represent the best and brightest emerging companies in the cloud sector,” said Alex Konrad, senior editor at Forbes. “Every year, it gets more difficult to make this list — meaning even more elite company for those who do. Congratulations to each of the 2021 Cloud 100 honorees and to our 20 Rising Stars up-and-comers poised to join their ranks.”
The cloud ecosystem is continuing to go through major changes. “The private cloud ecosystem continues to see historic rates of digital transformation,” said Byron Deeter, partner at Bessemer Venture Partners.
“Private cloud valuations are getting bigger as the market’s appetite for cloud continues to grow. These founders represent the absolute best in cloud computing today, and they appear likely to follow in the footsteps of our esteemed Cloud 100 alumni. Congratulations to these cloud leaders!”
Along with this growth is a change in the way many of us have been working. “How we work has undergone a paradigm shift and businesses of all shapes and sizes are reimagining the tools that are needed to ensure working from anywhere is a sustainable, long-lasting solution,” said Alex Kayyal, managing partner at Salesforce Ventures.
Over the past year and a half, digital transformation has been the imperative for many businesses, with cloud technologies proven to power the new digital economy. “The companies on this list represent the leaders and businesses shaping the future of the cloud ecosystem,” added Alex, “and we are excited to partner with Bessemer Venture Partners and Forbes to honor these trailblazers of the industry.”
Yet with such a torrent of content accumulating online, it has become more difficult to distinguish between other websites and elevate content ahead of others. “As we stand in the midst of a period of digital transformation,” said Steve Sloan, the CEO of Contentful, “we are finding a new reality where content has never played a more crucial role in the success of organizations and brands around the world.”
“We are honored to be recognized alongside 99 other companies who make up the Cloud 100 community as we continue to work with digital builders to reimagine what is possible in the new era of content.”
