3 Denmark Plugs in Contentful to Expand its Products to Non-Subscribers

3 Denmark Plugs in Contentful to Expand its Products to Non-Subscribers

Consciously or not, humans carry their phones with them at all times – wherever they go.

Whether we’re at work, chillin’ in the park, walking to the shop, on holiday, or even hibernating from the rest of the world, chances are you have your phone on you.

Phones are now extensions of ourselves – albeit still with the possibility of being disconnected… for now they are external extensions, but that’s another story.

Telecommunication companies are taking advantage of our relationship to phones, including 3 Denmark, which is expanding their brand as well as digital strategy in order to bring phone accessories into new markets.

In the beginning, back in 2003, 3 Denmark was a phone and data plan provider. Yet they soon realized that in order to remain competitive in a subscription-based market requires something more unique.

They set about expanding what they offered and found an opportunity in something new, and something subscription-free.

That something new was phone accessories that could protect our precious oblongs from bumps, bruises, and cracked screens.

And they decided to offer these phone accessories through a user-friendly ecommerce site that took on a catalog-esque layout look. 3 Denmark Plugs in Contentful to Expand its Products to Non-Subscribers

Building an ecommerce site

In order to build an attractive front-end, it needed a way to best display its ecommerce catalog, from cases and screen covers to chargers and headphones. It needed the right tech to build the site they wanted.

They did this by employing a diverse tech stack that was anchored to React, Node.js, and Contentful while being hosted on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

The results were great. So great, in fact, that 3 Denmark was able to push past competitors to become a recognizable brand and build on its subscription-based customers with its newer non-subscription-based customers.

“eCommerce and digital services are an important part of 3’s business,” said Morten Storm Lind, the head of digital at 3 Denmark. “For this reason, we put high demands on suppliers and partners with whom we collaborate.”

Flexibility

The other side of a good-looking and user-friendly ecommerce website is the nuts and bolts that make a site run fast. No matter how great a website looks, if it’s not fast, it’s very likely that very few people are actually going to visit it.

And to ensure that speed is central to its website, it looked to Contentful for help, to provide quick and consistent loading capabilities.

Thanks to Contentful’s cloud-native architecture as well as Content Delivery APIs, 3 Denmark’s website has the capability to support high-traffic from multiple global locations, as well as the ability to offer rolling deployment and ease to pair with other tech. 3 Denmark Plugs in Contentful to Expand its Products to Non-Subscribers

The migration period was quite fast, and the 3 Denmark website was soon up and running. Their new tech stack has now decreased release cycles for building and content creation, which helps to keep organizations relevant within the market and attractive to new customers in search of quality products but also digital experiences.
